Brief abstracts

The organizers invite all interested in the themes of the Conference (see themes below) to submit brief abstracts, maximum 250 words, by 7 September 2009 at the latest (extended deadline 14 Sept). The abstracts will be evaluated and letters of acceptance e-mailed to the submitting author in October 2009.

1) Evidence, action and implementation
- Perspectives on development of well-being concept
- International, national, regional and local approaches to evidence-based policies
- Results of international networking
- Identifying input and output indicators, evaluation, outcome indicators, and efficiency
- The role of employers' and employees' organizations and NGOs in the field
- Public awareness and use of media
- Implementation programmes

2) Management and good practices - Better productivity
- Systems approaches, quality of work life
- Integrating occupational safety and health into workplace management systems

How to format your abstract?

  1. Page size: A4 (297 mm x 210 mm), vertical orientation
  2. Margins: 25 mm top, left, right
  3. Font: Times New Roman only (body text 12 point)
  4. Font size:
    • Paper title: 14 point
    • Author name(s) and affiliation(s): 12 point
    NB! a) Underline name of presenting author, b) Only one author can be listed as the primary presenter, c) All authors should be listed by their last name and initials (eg. Anttonen H, Ylikoski M, Leino T, Husman P), d) Affiliations should be listed using numbers in superscript (e.g. 1 Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, Helsinki, Finland).
    • Body of abstract: 12 point
  5. Layout: Single spaced
  6. Alignment: justify
  7. No. of words: 250 max. or approximately 1200 characters with space (including title, author, and affiliation). Note that longer abstracts will not be reviewed.
  8. Do not include pictures, logos, figures or tables, nor references.
  9. Do not use Greek characters or any other symbols; please spell them out, e.g. α = alpha, γ = gamma, μ = u.
  10. Abstracts will be made available to conference participants as submitted to the Book of Abstracts— no editorial changes will be made.
  11. Please note that submitting an abstract to the Towards Better Work and Well-being Conference represents a commitment to participate.
  12. Abstracts submission is by 7 September 2009. All free communication presenters must pay their registration fee within few weeks of receiving the letter of acceptance on 15 October 2009. Note that your abstract will only be published in the Book of Abstracts after we have received your payments accordingly.

How to submit the abstract?

  1. Write and save your abstract on your own computer in Microsoft Word format according to the instructions above.
  2. Fill in the online abstract submission form.
  3. If your abstract has more than six (6) co-authors, please fill in the last co-author field as et al.
  4. The programme will automatically forward your abstract to the conference organizers. You will receive by email a confirmation that your abstract is received.

NB! Direct abstract submission was closed on 18 Sept, and the reviewers have started their work. If you are interested in poster free communications, enquire possibilities for late submission with betterwork (at) ttl.fi.

Acceptance

The organizers reserve the right to accept or refuse an abstract, to designate either oral or poster presentations, and to choose a suitable session for the abstract. The authors’ preference of oral or poster presentation and theme will be taken into account. Notice of acceptance will be e-mailed to the corresponding author in October 2009.


 
Book of abstracts

Abstracts will be made available to conference participants as submitted in the Book of Abstracts — no editorial changes will be made. Note that your abstract will only be published in the Book of Abstracts after we have received your  registration and payments accordingly.
