COME AND HEAR THE LATEST ON WELL-BEING AT WORK

Background – Workplace as a possibility for better future for all

Recent research has shown that the workplace is an excellent arena for improving the health and safety attitudes and behaviour of the working-age population, and through them, the attitudes of the larger population. Measures for improving the quality of work and well-being at work have been shown to rapidly and efficiently affect the productivity of organizations, and the motivation and health and safety behaviour of employees. The conventional way of promoting health and safety at work is to reduce people's exposure to various risks. However, in view of the complex global labour market situation, and the effects of work on the environment, the promotion of health and safety must be more comprehensive. We need workplaces that promote health and well-being, that take into account the physical and mental work environment, that measure the employee's workload according to his/her work ability, and that recognize the significance of management, competence and the balance between work and private life. Both people and the economy benefit from a healthy and safe work life.

Click here for materials of the Finnish National Well-being at Work - seminar. The results of the EU-Progress project on  Well-being at Work – New Innovations and Good Practices have been published as a booklet "Well-being at Work – New Innovations and Good Practices" (pdf). The booklet is also now available in Finnish "Työhyvinvointi" (pdf).

Aim and scope of the Conference

The aim of the Conference is to provide the opportunity to discuss strategies and tools for the promotion of health and well-being at the workplace, as well as to explore their links to productivity. Our aim is also to examine and discuss the good practices, methods, tools, and service systems currently available to workplaces in different countries. The overall long-term objective is to improve health, safety, and well-being at workplaces. In this Conference, the concept of well-being comprises health and safety, psychosocial issues and the work environment.

The programme is designed to offer opportunities for learning how different actors in the occupational health and safety field in different countries and regions are currently promoting health and safety at workplaces. It will also address the latest developments in this area. The Conference will provide a forum for presenting findings, and demonstrating methods, tools, and approaches to health, safety, and well-being at workplaces.
