Instructions for preparing abstracts
Please, read these instructions carefully before preparing your abstract. Also, see the sample abstract.
1. The maximum length of an abstract is one (1) page (approx. 440 words or 3000 characters with spaces). Abstract must be typed in English on a blank page and saved in Microsoft Word format. The typing area should be 16.0 cm (6.3 in) wide and 22.0 cm (8.7 in) long. Leave margins of 2.5 cm (1 in) on the left and right and 4 cm (1.6) at the top and bottom of the page. Justify both left and right border of the document. Avoid using figures and tables.
2. The text should be single spaced and written in point size 12, using Times New Roman font. The title should be concise and describe the work to be reported. Use point size 14 for the title. Leave one (1) blank line between the title and the name(s) of the author(s). Omit degrees and titles. Underline the name of the author presenting the abstract: other wise the first author will be taken as the presenting author. Please note,that all correspondence related to the abstract will be with the corresponding author. Affiliations should be annotated by superscript numbers. Leave three (3) blank lines before the text.
3. The abstract should present the objectives of the study, the approach and the methods used, the results obtained, and the conclusions reached. Statements such as “the data will be discussed” are not acceptable. Titles, such as Introduction and objectives, Material and methods, Results, Discussion and conclusions (in bold) are recommended, when applicable.
4. The organizers reserve the right to accept or refuse an abstract; to designate papers either oral or poster presentations and to choose a suitable session for the abstract. Notice of acceptance will be emailed to the corresponding author by 28 September 2007.
Instructions for online abstract submission
1. Write and save your abstract on your own computer in Microsoft Word format according to the instructions above. Also, see the sample abstract (MS Word).
2. Fill in the online abstract submission form and enclose your abstract in Word format. Do not click the “submit” button until you have revised your abstract and make sure that it is prepared according to the instructions. You will not be able to edit your paper after submission. Remember to click the submit button on the abstract form after you have filled in the form and enclosed your abstract.
3. Please ensure that the email address is entered correctly to enable us to correspond with you regarding your abstract. Information regarding acceptance and scheduling will be emailed to the email address filled in on the abstract submission form.
4. After submission you will receive the abstract handling number indicating that your paper has successfully been submitted. You should receive the handling number at the end of submission as well as an email message confirming the successful abstract submission. Note!
- Abstracts that have not been prepared according to the abstract preparing instructions will not be reviewed nor published in the Book of Abstracts.
- Presenting author must register as a delegate and the conference payments should be made before 15 October 2007.
- The deadline for abstract submission is 30 August 2007.
Other practical information for contributors
Book of Abstract
Accepted abstracts will be published as a Book of Abstracts, which will be distributed to the participants at the Conference.
Proceedings
A Conference proceedings is planned to be published after the Conference. More information on the plans will be made available online at
www.ttl.fi/euronanosh in Autumn 2007.
Duration of oral presentations
Time for keynote lectures varies from 30 to 40 minutes. Free communication presentations are 15 minutes, including discussion. Check the final programme for the presentation times and sessions.
Audiovisual facilities
An overhead projector, beamer (for PowerPoint presentations), and a fixed laptop are available in the session room(s). We will therefore ask for Power-Point presentations to be sent in advance to the EuroNanOSH Secretariat. If you need any other audiovisual facility, please ensure availability with the Secretariat before the Conference.
Instructions for poster presentations
Each poster contributor will be provided with one panel. All the materials needed for the mounting of the posters will be provided. The posters should have a title, and should state the authors and their affiliations. The authors are requested to be in the proximity of their posters at a later designated time. Please be prepared to distribute handouts of your poster.
