The Finnish Institute of Occupational Health offers testing, certification, training and quality management system services related to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
PPE includes breathing masks, face shields, hearing protectors, eye and head protectors, safety and protective shoes, non-skid devices, fall prevention equipment, diving suits, protective gloves, protective clothing, life jackets and buoyancy aids.
PPE must be used when it is not possible to sufficiently mitigate hazards by technical means.
Notified Body no. 0403. The Finnish Institute of Occupational Health is the Notified Body no. 0403, which is authorised to conduct conformity assessments in accordance with the Personal Protective Equipment Directive 89/686/EEC.
Our testing service has been accredited by FINAS (Finnish Accreditation Service); our test laboratory ID number is T013. Our laboratory is a leading Nordic protective equipment testing laboratory. Our facilities meet ISO 17025 standard requirements and are fully accredited.
The accreditation of certification (EC type-examination) operations is evaluated and monitored by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. Work Organization advisers participate in co-operation with European Notified Bodies and in the drafting of standards for protective equipment.
