Project

Supporting virtual reality training – VIRTUES

Training in virtual reality is an effective way to develop work and occupational safety skills. We want to make virtual reality training even more effective by creating a solution that combines group learning elements to virtual reality training, enhancing the effectiveness and efficacy of the training. The solution will be integrated into the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health’s VR training service, Virtuario™. The solution is based on the model developed in the SLIVeR research project.

Objectives

The project will develop a model that combines different learning methods, merging them into virtual reality (VR) training. The model will

  • facilitate utilizing virtual reality training
  • increase the benefits of virtual reality training in Virtuario™
  • enhance skill transfer to one's own work.

The project is especially targeted at HR and occupational safety and health professionals who are responsible for training safety and work skills in their organization.

Data and methods

The blended learning model developed in the project is based on the pedagogical model developed in the SLIVeR research project. In the VIRTUES project, the model will be adapted as an online service that clients can use as part of work skills and occupational safety training.

Results and impact

The research will result in a new kind of educational solution that combines virtual reality training and small group sessions. The resulting service will be included as part of the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health’s VR training service, Virtuario ™.
