What next?

This manual contains the central themes of cognitive work and cognitive ergonomics. What cognitive work steps will you take next? Are cognitive work issues and improving cognitive ergonomics a current issue in your work community? The Finnish Institute of Occupational Health has extensive experience in improving cognitive work in many different organizations, across a wide range of fields.

The goal of cognitive work services is to make cognitive work flow smoothly, make it productive and to support well-being. We provide wide-ranging cognitive work services. Our services include lectures; cognitive work courses for work communities, supervisors or management; cognitive work agent training; and tailored cognitive work projects.

We improve cognitive work comprehensively

  • IDENTIFY: How is your cognitive work? What kind of cognitive work do you do? What causes you stress? What inspires you? The present cognitive work situation can be elicited using either a brief questionnaire or a more detailed survey.
  • RESOLVE: What concrete measures can we take to improve the situation? Through co-development, the cognitive work workshop finds ideas and develops solutions for better-flowing cognitive work.
  • PUT INTO PRACTICE: How can the solutions developed in the cognitive work workshop be implemented in everyday life? We will you help establish and adopt new working methods.

Progress of the workshop

It is recommended that the workshop instructor prepares for the workshop by getting to know the content of the survey tool in advance.

When you are ready to start, the instructor will start the workshop with the “move to the tool“ button. The instructor shares the view with the other participants and the work progresses according to the instructions provided by the survey tool.

The workshop includes:

  • Introduction to themes related to cognitive work
  • Voting on the most important themes (3–4)
  • Discussion on the selected themes and keeping records of observations
  • Agreeing on further measures
