Project

Creating new jobs for people with partial work ability using artificial intelligence — UuTTO

We are exploring the use of artificial intelligence in identifying new jobs aimed at people with partial work ability. We are modelling how workplaces could use artificial intelligence to detect new ways of working and areas of work. We are also assessing the extent to which this could increase the work engagement of people with partial work ability in Finland.

Objectives

Increasing the employment rate has been one of the key societal goals for several years. Achieving this goal requires ways of increasing employment opportunities for groups of people that are currently unemployed or find it difficult to continue in work life. In this project, we are investigating how artificial intelligence can be used to support work planning in detecting new work opportunities for people with partial work ability.

Data and methods

The study is a case study of a private company providing cleaning, property maintenance, restaurant and security services. We are collaboratively developing the use of artificial intelligence in work planning with the company.

Results and impact

The project assesses the extent to which new jobs created with the help of artificial intelligence could increase the work engagement of people with partial work ability nationwide. We are also surveying key factors that can affect the realisation of new jobs. Based on the results, we will produce guidelines to help workplaces utilise artificial intelligence in work planning and taking employees with partial work ability into consideration.
