Self-administered testing kits with support from an occupational hygienist
A self-administered occupational hygiene testing kit is a cost-effective and quick option for assessing exposure in the workplace when there is neither a need nor the opportunity to carry out a comprehensive occupational hygiene analysis.
The self-administered testing kit is a service aimed at businesses for assessing and monitoring exposure, when a more comprehensive analysis would be too extensive for the purpose, or when testing results are required at short notice. Samples are collected at the workplace by the staff themselves in accordance with clear instructions, after which they are sent to our laboratory for analysis.
These competitively priced packages always include support from an occupational health and safety professional, who will ensure
- correct sampling by using the right equipment
- accurate testing results
- an easy-to-read analysis report containing practical recommendations for action.
Testing kits for different needs
To ensure the best value for money, the testing kits are available in three different sizes. Based on an initial discussion, our occupational health and safety specialist will always select the package best suited to each individual need.
| Testing kit | Number of samples |
| Testing kit S | 1–2 samples |
| Testing kit M | 3 samples |
| Testing kit L | 4 samples |
All testing kits include
- support from an occupational health and safety professional
- the necessary sampling equipment and instructions for collecting samples
- the analysis of samples at the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health’s own laboratory
- a clear analysis report.
What types of exposure can be assessed with the testing kits?
Our extensive range of analytical services covers hundreds of types of exposure, such as
- solvents
- anaesthetic gases
- formaldehyde and other aldehydes
- dusts, such as flour dust, metallic dust, cement dust, wood dust and other organic or inorganic dusts
- fine-grained (alveolar) quartz
- diesel engine soot.
Both large and small businesses benefit from self-administered testing
Self-administered testing kits are suitable for workplaces of all sizes, regardless of the sector.
These testing kits have been used in e.g. bakeries, car repair shops, the construction industry, laundries, dental and veterinary clinics, and paint shops.
For larger companies, testing kits work very well for purposes such as interim assessments or supplementary measurements when a particular work stage cannot be replicated during the actual occupational hygiene assessment.
